Gregory has never liked school. He hates it and it seems to hate him. And now that he is in sixth grade, life has only gotten worse. He has been held back twice and expelled once. While his parents worry about his failure, Gregory knows the problem is that school does not interest him because it does not let him do what he wants - to make things. His only happy moments are found in his grandad's shed, among the tools and scrape he uses to build his inventions. His grandad is the only person who really understands and believes in him, but the latter gets seriously ill. Along the way there are teachers who can see his abilities and try to help. But once he is labelled a "problem", he has an identity impossible to escape. He behaves as it is expected of him. Only when Gregory realizes, with his grandad's help, that he is the one who must take control of his life...A good book about the "dunces", kids who struggle with tested things but have wonderful skills as people. Read to find out more...
