Mr Pollicutt, why do I have to download the document?
ReplyDeleteThere, Camelle.
ReplyDeleteAre you satisfied? :) I commented!
So, two paragraphs for the amendment?
i wanna post an amendment to a second degree. no homeworks please.
ReplyDeleteFor writing I could find the only level that is suitable for me is secure level 5
ReplyDeleteI think I use my paragraphs clearly and structure main ideas across text to support purpose, also within my paragraphs is a range of devices support. My ideas can be quiet organised. My main purpose of writing is quiet clear. My vocabulary is sometimes chosen for effect. I use speech marks to denote speech.
I should improve my vocabulary and grammar and the structure of my paragraphs, thinking more carefully of what I'm going to put in the paper.
My target is to get low level 6
For my reading I think I got a low level 6
ReplyDeleteI think my comments are usually based in the textual evidence and I maybe can identify different layers of meaning. I think I have some detailed explanation of how language is used. My comments on structural choices and show some general awareness of writer's craft. My viewpoints in the text are quiet clearly identified with some little explanation.
I should improve my choices of quotations and describing the quote letter by letter carefully.
My target is to get secure level 6
how do u open up the writtings, i download both of it and none of it work?
ReplyDeleteAfter reading the secure level 6 reading, I think that I'am on this level 6 as I can answer questions in different structures and can answer resonable level 6 questions. However, I sometimes need to check carefully for spellings and grammer. And I can "sort of" describe quotations part by part although I can have errors.
ReplyDeleteMy target for reading level 6 will be low level 7 although I have read a level 7 peices and I think it is going to be challenging for me.
After reading the low level 6 writing,I personally think that I can do better the the low level 6 as I am able to PEE in writing. I am also able to structure my writing clearly to show clarity and emphasis on subordinations. I also rarely have spelling mistakes on simple words but can have errors on complex words e.g. comprehensive.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I cannot maintain consistency on my writing.
My target is to reach a high level 6 writing and have consistency in my writing.
I think that, for my writing level, I am placed in the areas around a level 7. From reading the different examples that were presented, I found out that I write the same way and am on a similar level of creativity. I can use a variety of sentence lengths and techniques to pull the reader in, and my punctuation is correct.
ReplyDeleteTo improve, I think I should always pitch in my full effort and keep focus on the topic I'm writing about. Also, I will try experimenting with different uses of vocabulary. I am now aiming for a level 7 or 8 in areas of writing, and will use the examples as a goal to achieve. I know I can do better if I try.
In the reading level criteria, I place myself between a secure level 6 and 7, leaning towards 6. I chose these levels because I feel that I'm capable of effectively analyzing and inferring from reading material, but I often forget to support my answers with proof from the text. I think that I can understand and interpret the writing, but I can't convey their meaning into my own words yet.
ReplyDeleteMy target level is now 7 for reading, and to reach it I will practice using quotations more, and think about the intended effect of individual words through a text. I will dig deeper, and think about the questions more thoroughly.
In the writing level, I think I'm on level 5 because when I analyse writings, I always forget to write the main point of each paragraphs so although the analysis of things are good, I wouldn't be able to get high level. And when I write writings, I think I fall into my writing, and think I'm reading an interesting novel or something which makes me forget to put some important techniques or think about the structure.
ReplyDeleteI think I can improve my writing level by keep memorizing to use techniques.etc and I also I could make my sentences complex and longer.
In the reading level, I think I'm on level 5. I think I'm not bad at analysising the words or phases that the writer used deliberately but this needs to be improved, and I think my comments based on the quotations are not very clear and also needs to think more when. I think I can improve this by thinking what did the questions-maker wanted me to find out.etc
ReplyDeleteFor reading, I think that I am a level 6 because when I analyze a piece of text, I can expand and think more about the meaning and significance of something. I can also think about how the writer's structure affects his/her purpose. I often think about the writer's language and how it might convey a certain idea to the audience. I support my answers with quotations but sometimes my quotations are explained wrongly or I have not interpreted them enough.
ReplyDeleteMy target is to get at level 7. To achieve my target, I will practice using quotations and trying to expand on them as much as possible so that my explanations will be more detailed.
For writing I think that I am a low level 6. I chose this level because I think that I use correct punctuation throughout my writing and I have correct spelling. My use of language and techniques are appropriate and my language is appropriate for my targeted audience and my purpose is very clear and well thought out. Although my format is not always successful, i use a wide range of techniques that fit my purpose and audience. The vocabulary I use is usually of wide range and is carefully chosen to fit my purpose and audience.
ReplyDeleteI aim to get a level 7 and to do this I have to structure my sentences properly and vary them and also think about my format and not just my purpose and audience.
For writing I think I am at a secure Level 7, as my range of vocabulary, writing techniques and use of proper syntax and grammar warrant this level. I think that I use punctuation properly without any mistakes, and proper spelling of complex words, albeit having a one or two mistakes in the whole piece. I can carefully pick out words and sentences that suit my target audience, and well as change track to fit a formal/informal piece. I aim to secure a level 8 by improving my spelling to get the mistakes down to zero, and by further enlarging my vocabulary and literary technique bank.
ReplyDeleteAs for reading I think I am at a low level 8, as I can analyze written passages of different sorts with ease, understanding simple to complex language written to target all audiences. I think that the only falling point in Reading for me is Poetry. I aim to again achieve a secure level 8, and I can do this by reading more fictional pieces of literature, thus grasping more of the techniques used in fictional text as well as poetry, which is my outstanding weak point.
For writing, I think I’m at a level 5. My writing is clearly structured. There is a range of techniques being used to create imageries. The idea is interesting but not well organised therefore it’s hard for the readers to follow through. I rarely have spelling mistakes, appropriate vocabulary and syntax. I use a range of sentence structures.
ReplyDeleteI aim to get a level 6 by enriching my vocabulary and presenting my idea clearly so the readers can understand.
For reading, I think I’m at a low level 7. I can analyze the writer’s use of language and how he structures his writing to get his purpose through. I support my answers with quotations.
My target is to get a secure level 7 and furthermore, a level 8. I need to pick out clear points, using embedded quotations to support my points and interpret them in more details.
How could I do to improve a level?
ReplyDeleteI have read two level 5 writing assessments of a pupil and notice that there is some limitation within the two. However, this pupil has provided a bit of senses of form in his writing that is perfectly chosen for the readers and the purpose. The sentences are mostly supported by accurate Capital letters and full stops whenever needed yet there were lack of the use of accuracy of punctuation and commas in the sentences. Wide range of vocabularies was used carefully in order to create a certain effect.
To improve this level in writing I suggest that the pupil should be more careful with his punctuation and spelling. To think and develop his pieces more out of the box not limited in scope.
For the reading section, again I have read through the pieces and in my opinion the writer showed good understanding of the story with a brilliant choice of language in which created a certain impact upon the readers.
1 way to improve this level is to provide more persuasive evidences, quotations and embedded quotations.
I think for reading, I am in a high level 6 because I can understand the text, analyse the writer's use of language and its intention. I also don`t make spelling mistakes. To improve to a low level 7, I think I should follow the level 7 criteria such as fully explain my point by using embedded quotations and a detailed analysis.
ReplyDeleteI think for writing I am at a Level 6 because I can write with a variety of adjectives and adverbs to describe. I also use a range of vocabulary where appropriate. To improve to a high level 6 or a low levfel 7, I should work on my structure and also use a range of sentence structures.
i think for writing i am a level 6. I think this because my punctuation is usually correct and so is my spelling. My writing suits my audience and my purpose is accurate as well. I usually use a wide range of sentence structure. To improve to a level 7, i need to work on my format.
ReplyDeleteFor reading i think i am in the middle of level 6. I can anylize sentences well. I can also think of how the writers structure effects his piece of writing. I also analizer the writers language to see if it sends an idea to the audience. My target is to get a level 7. To get level 7, i will analize sentences more carefully. i will also support my answers with quotations and explain them in more detail.
ReplyDeleteI think, for writing, I am at low level 6 or high level 5. This is because my punctuation and spelling is generally accurate; however, I sometimes get mix up between adverbs and adjectives. I can use a small range of sentence length; have connections between paragraphs; use wide range of connectives. But I hardly ever use appropriate and effective vocabulary; and I rarely write imaginatively!!! Therefore, those would be my targets!
ReplyDeleteI think, for reading, I am at secure 5; because I normally focus more on the techniques that the author uses, rather than the language or literary features at word and sentence level. I can identify and comment on writers' purposes and viewpoint pretty well. Moreover, I cannnot understand metaphors; as I cannot identify the real object that has been described/written as something else (my imagination is terrible). Therefore, I think my targets would be to read more metaphors and identify them; as well as, learn more vocabulary!!! T.T
ReplyDeleteReading:
ReplyDeleteReading wise, I am not particularly good at. Normally, my grade for reading are secured level 6's. This is because I can thoroughly understand the writer's intention; however, I cannot fully explain the writer's intention. Also, I can, in details, explain the context of the text. Furthermore, I can choose the right vocabulary to explain such context. For improvement, I am aiming at a low level 7; this could be achieved by suggesting another interpretation of the text.
Writing:
For writing, I think that I've achieved a high level 6. This is because most of the time, my works are technically correct and there is an array of adventurous vocabulary. Moreover, I can describe scenes and actions in detail. I also can use various sentence structures. For improvement, I want to improve up to a level 7. In order to achieve this, I should use vocabularies that match the purpose of the piece.
i think i had achieve secure level 6 for my writting beacause i use a range of sentence structure, appropriate vocabulary and i also able to structure my writting clearly. to improve, i should concentrate more on my tense and grammar mistake.
ReplyDeletei think i had achieve a secure level 6 for my reading because i am able to use the PEEEL in my writting,i can analyse the writter use of language and also i hardly ever have spelling mistake in my writting. to improve, i should try to find more interesting quotations to support my points and focus more on fully explaning the quotes.
BOOM. I just broke the working spree!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sang Wook...
ReplyDeleteLinus- you "hardly ever make spelling mistakes"....really?!
